Großvenediger South

The ascent of the Großvenediger from the South.

We meet in Prägraten / Osttirol, park our car in Hinterbichl – Gasthaus Islitzer and take the taxi towards Johannishütte.

The walk from Johannishütte to Defreggerhaus is app. an 2.5-hour walk. We use the time to get to know the participants and we are looking forward to this great mountain experience.

The decision to spend the night at the Defreggerhaus gives us the shortest possible ascent to the summit of the Großvenediger on the second day of the tour.

Grossvenediger 3,666 m – Roof of the SALZBURGERLAND

Our view drifts from the top of the Grossvenediger over the surrounding peaks of the Hohe Tauern. We are on the highest mountain in Salzburg and look at the mighty, eternal ice of the Obersulzbachkees. We enjoy the peace and solitude of the mountain world.
